District team Training Seminar (DTTS) and Training of Trainers Seminar (TOTS)
We assisted Rotary Club of Vasco da gama in hosting the District team Training Seminar (DTTS) and Training of Trainers Seminar (TOTS) at Woodborne Resort, Nuvem, Goa on 6th and 7th March 2010.
District Governor Elect Rtn. Mahesh Raikar, who also presented the video of RI President-elect Ray Klinginsmith announcing the 2010-11 RI theme, Building Communities — Bridging Continents, during the opening plenary session of the 2010 International Assembly.
Also present were District Governor Gurudatta D Bhakta, DGE Mahesh Raikar, DGN Avinash Poddar (2011-12), DGN Jorson Fernandes (2012-13), PDG Ravi, PDG, District Trainer and Chief Guest PDG Rajan Deshpande, IPDG Dr. Pranesh Jahgirdhar and numerous other senior Rotarians.
The video colposcope for detecting cervical cancer purchased under the Matching Grant project of Rotary Club of Vasco da Gama and Rotary Club of Wigan (RID 1280) was handed over to Dr. Kamat Nursing Home, Goa, India. The project is to install a video colposcope in a hospital catering to poor patients in the port town as well as use the portable equipment to carry out camps in various towns and villages in the state of Goa. Goa is considered as the cancer capital of India with about 700 cases per million of population. The lifestyle of the women in a state where almost 40% of women are unmarried even at the age of 40, makes them at risk for breast as well as cervical cancer.
