Rotary International is the world’s first service organization with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education & job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto ‘Service above Self.’
On the occasion of Sharad Poornima, the Rotary Club of Dabolim in association with Shree Gujarati Samaj Vasco is organizing a Dandiya Nite ’10 to be held on Saturday, 23rd October 2010 at MPT Institute, Vasco. This event is a fund raiser for our education-related projects which include infrastructure, teaching aids and soft skill training for teachers.
With the funds raised through last year’s Dandiya programme, we helped provide sanitation facilities to at 2 schools where they were badly lacking. It has also helped in curbing the drop out rate of girls from the schools. We have also joined hands with other International clubs to donate teaching aids to other educational institutions – we have donated an LCD projector and a Laptop, books, bags to high performing girl child, have planned a teachers training programme, and are working on helping the partner education institutions further.

We held our first Garage Sale at Kharewado, Vasco. The items on sale were recieved as donations from various people. Most of the items on sale were pre-used but in a good condition. Old and new clothing, footwear, toys, household knick-knacks and some home appliances were sold. The sale helped us raise funds for our school project.
We were overwhelmed with the response.
