Sewing Machines DistributionSewing Machines Distribution to physically challenged poor and needy women

Sewing Machine - Disabled - SancoaleOur Club distributed hand operated sewing machines to two poor and needy women in Sancoale Village, Goa. One of the women was physically challenged. We hope that the sewing machine project will help empower women to become financially independent, self sufficient, earn their livelihood and live with dignity.

The sewing machines came in from the 3 District 3170 MG Projects for 847 Foot operated sewing machines and 156 Hand operated sewing machines. MG # 72544 with Rotary Oceanside, MG # 72915 Rotary Baltic Riga, District 2410 and MG # 73036 with E club of District 7890. Special thanks to Rtn. Bharat Kamat, Rotary eClub of D-7890 who was the prime contact in getting 420 machines. Rtn. Prakash Saraswat was a project contact for all the 3 projects.

Attended RLI 2 and RGHF at Belgaum Dharwad

RLI2We attended RLI 2 hosted by Belgaum South and RGHF at Dharwad.

The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a multi-district, grassroots leadership development program of member districts organized into regional divisions in various parts of the world. RLI seeks to have Rotary Clubs in its member districts identify those Rotarians who appear to have the potential for future club leadership (not necessarily as club presidents) and provide those so identified with a quality education in Rotary knowledge and leadership skills so important in voluntary organizations.

RGHFRGHF Mission: As an effort to serve others, RGHF offers history training for Rotary leaders. The fellowship accumulates and preserves the complete history, values, and philosophy of the Rotary movement, as well as encourages others to do the same at every level of the Rotary movement, and publishes those histories, values, and philosophies on the internet, as well as other forms of media as expedient.

LCD projector donated to MES College, Zuarinagar, Goa

LCD-projector donated to MES College ZuarinagarWe have donated an LCD projector to MES College Zuarinagar Goa to coincide with the official visit of the District Governor (RID 3170) Rtn Mahesh Raikar. Also present were AG Rtn. Rtn. Nikhil Lawande. The LCD projector will be used by the teachers to improve the quality of education in classrooms. The project has been completed under the District Simplified Grants (DSG).

LCD-projector donated to MES College GoaThe Rotary Club of Dabolim Goa is focused on improving the employ-ability of students from lesser privileged sections of society. Our Education Projects are thus helping selected schools by improving infrastructure, training of teachers and providing teaching aids. The teaching aids donated by Rotary will help improve the education imparted to students. In the last few months, we have donated a Laptop, books, bags to high performing girl child, helped build toilets at 2 schoolsYuwak Sangh and Anjuman, have planned a teachers training programme, and are working on helping the partner education institutions further.

Official visit of the District Governor Rtn Mahesh Raikar

DGVisit-1The official visit of the DG Rtn Mahesh Raikar was on 02 September 2010. Dignitaries on the dias included Assistant Governor Rtn. Nikhil Lawande, President Avez and Secretary Amit T. Also present were GSR Rtn. Santosh Lotlikar, Rotarians from our sponsor club Vasco da gama Prakash, Sanjay and Navneet, and our club members. DGVisit-3

DGVisit-2-MukulAgichaMukul was inducted in the club. The DG also visited Yuwak Sangh School Sada, the first school for our school project where we have constructed toilet blocks, donated books and bags.

The Rotary Leadership Institute RLI Part-I District 3170 courseWe attended the The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) Part-I District 3170 course held at Rotary Community Centre, 2nd Floor – Tilak Maidan Complex, Vasco da gama, Goa. The program was hosted by Rotary Club of Vasco da gama, and the faculty members were Piyush Sinha, Prakash Saraswat and Subhash Sajane.

Laptop donated to Anjuman H. I. High School, Baina, Goa

education-laptopWe have donated a laptop to Anjuman H. I. High School, Baina, Goa. The laptop will be used by the school teachers to improve the quality of education in classrooms in conjunction with an LCD projector that the school is procuring independently. The project has been completed under the District Simplified Grants (DSG).

Installation of Rtn Mahesh Raikar as DG

DG-MAHESH-RAIKARThe Installation of Rtn Mahesh Raikar as DG of RI District 3170 for the year 2010-11 was held at the hands of RI Director Elect. 2011-13 of Zone 4 PDG Rtn. Yashpal Das from Ambala District 3080. The Guest of Honour was IPDG Rtn. Ravishankar Bhooplapur & Ann Jaya from District 7250 Newyork, USA.(He is originally from Hubli-Dharwad and has contributed for carrying out free heart surgeries for children in Hubli.)

DG Mahesh Raikar has set the TRF collection for this year for District 3170 as 1 Million $ (3 times last year figure).

Installation3-2010-11“Installation Ceremony” of Rtn. Avez Shaikh as President of Rotary Club of Dabolim Goa along with his Board of Directors for R.Y. 2010-11 was done at the hands of Rtn. Prakash Saraswat – Chief Guest & Installing Officer on On 1st July, 2010 (Thursday) at Vasco da gama. Also attending were GSR Rtn. Santosh Lotlikar and AG Rtn. Nikhil Lawande and other visiting Rotarians.

To qualify for a Presidential Citation, a Rotary club must achieve the membership goal and complete an activity from three of the six categories – Polio eradication, Public image, Service, Membership, Vocational service and Leadership.
